The new state-of-the-art visitor and education centre gives every visitor the opportunity to discover the story of Mary Jones and Thomas Charles, and learn about the impact of the world's best-selling book - not only in Wales but the rest of the world.

In 1800, a 15 year-old girl called Mary Jones walked 26 miles from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala to purchase a Bible in her own language from Revd. Thomas Charles. It was a journey that changed the course of history, not only in modern Wales, but the world.

Mary Jones World tells this story through engaging and interactive materials.

The centre is based at St Beuno’s Church, which has been sensitively re-developed using traditional materials. The site has been a place of Christian worship for more than 1,500 years and has strong links with Bible Society, which Thomas Charles helped establish in 1804. Thomas Charles is one of a number of notable figures buried in the churchyard.

Mary Jones World is open daily (including Sundays) between 10 am - 5 pm. Last entry at 4 pm.
