Take a closer look at the arts and crafts around Bala
Bala and Penllyn has been an inspiration to artists and craftspeople for generations including Augustus John and James Dickson Innes. There are proactive group of local artists who regularly exhibit their work in ‘Cantref Canolfan Y Plase – The Heritage Centre’ in Bala throughout the year. There are opportunities to follow art or craft courses and to visit studios in the area. In September each year artists from Bala & Penllyn take part in North Wales’ biggest Open Studio Event. Tan yr Hall Gallery Bala has original works of art to the smallest print. The gallery aims to have something for everyone's taste and pocket.
illumin-arte is a small Stained Glass workshop in a beautiful location on the edge of Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake)., Situated on the outskirts of Bala Town by the Bala Lake Railway.
The Glass Blobbery (Glanrafon near Bala) all sorts of handmade glass sculptures including glass animals, glass flowers, glass dragons and other glass sea creatures all bespoke and lovingly hand made at our studio.

Pren - High Street Bala - Bala for Les Symonds' wide range of turned wooden items, both utilitarian and aesthetic, made from a range of both indigenous and exotic timbers
Iola Edwards - Local artist and illustrator Iola works from her studio in Llanuwchllyn. Her work can be seen in Tan yr Hall Gallery.
Eluned Jones - is a Landscape Painter and Art Photographer. She uses oil paints to depict the beautiful colours and sculptural shapes of the mountains around the Bala area, and uses her camera to produce an expression of social commentary by capturing the character and individual personalities of people in their own communities.
Corris Craft Centre - At Corris Craft Centre you’ll find a great collection of shops, attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained for hours. The Centre boasts 8 individual Craft Studios – which are octagonal shaped pods bursting with creativity – where you can meet the talented designer-makers and buy their handmade items.
Ruthin Craft Centre has three galleries, six artist studios, retail gallery, education and residency workshops, tourist information gateway and café with courtyard terrace.
